Quinoa is a fully handmade crochet multicolor and multi-yarn crew neck sweater, made of the highest quality Peruvian pima cotton, in combination with the extremely soft FS alpaca yarn (FS stands for the superfine hand-brushed alpaca quality). Quinoa is one of the most unique pieces from the Ayni collection due to its amazing quinoa seed resembling pattern, combined with moderate balloon sleeves transitioning to hand-embroidered cuffs. Due to its stand-out complexity, one Quinoa sweater takes up to 14 days to complete. The Quinoa sweater hugs you with its Peruvian heritage, centered around love, connectivity, and craftsmanship. Quinoa is made entirely with pure sustainable materials translated into a Peruvian-Scandinavian narrative. An expression of culture through design where each garment also represents a commitment to the environment and the artisans of the AYNI family.

Details and Care

50% pima cotton, 45% FS alpaca*, 5% polyamide

*FS stands for the superfine hand-brushed alpaca quality. Alpaca is the cohesion of all the other fibers: the softness of cashmere, the shininess of mohair, the thickness of angora and the strength of merino wool. Their fiber is flame-resistant and it can also wick away moisture because of its unique ability to mimic cotton in moisture regain. This is what makes alpaca feel lighter than wool but warmer than cotton in cool, damp climates.

Handknitted in Peru by artisans who were all fairly treated and paid for their work.  

Note that actual colors might vary slightly from your monitor. 

Do not wash, but rather air out your alpaca garments from time to time. If stained, dry clean only. Keep your wool garments safe from moths by using organic lavender pockets.

    Saga is a fully hand-knitted and hand-embroidered artisanal piece. A midi length style coat with a slightly pointy hood, made in 100% organic, mulesing-free, and naturally dyed wool. Saga is knitted in off-white wool and tightly embroidered with black wool threads by using a very precise and time-consuming embroidering technique with a thick needle. The hand-embroidery process takes days to complete and results in unique details throughout the garment. Saga is a very high-quality piece, crafted to last a lifetime and beyond.
